Couple Topic with File
It is possible to couple a file with a topic. In every Description screen in which a hyperlink has been created to a topic that is coupled with a file, the user can open the coupled file by clicking the hyperlink (see Hyperlinks).
There are several ways in which a file can be coupled with a topic.
To couple a File:
-
In the Topic screen select the topic with which you want to couple a file.
-
Select the Edit tab followed by the Couple Topic with drop down button or the context menu Couple Topic with.
-
Select File.
- In the selection window that opens, you can select the file location and file.
- Click Open. The file is now coupled.
Note:
-
In the Relationships screen of the topic with which the file is coupled, the link is shown as a relationship in the With What relationship category.
By double-clicking the relationship, the file can be opened.
Files are distinguished by the value External Files in the From column and the lack of the addition file:// in the Name column (the addition is only available for coupled files of the type Network File).
- For coupled files of the type File, you can Edit Paths.
- It is possible to add key words to a Couple file. Using these keywords, the files can be found in web publications (see Adding keywords).
