Database Manager - Create New SQL Database

Note: Creating a new SQL database requires a certain amount of knowledge and the ability to create a schema for the database. For this reason it is best to have your system administrator handle all database conversions.

A new SQL database is created as follows:

(Ensure that SQL Server Tasks is selected for the Database Manager; see: SQL Server Tasks)

1. Start the Database Manager (see: Database Manager).

2. Choose the Create a new Database option under the New SQL Database section. Alternatively you can select the File > Create Mavim Database > Create Mavim Database in SQL menu item in the Database Manager.

The following screen appears:

3. Enter the correct details for your SQL database.

4. Enter the Database Code that you received from Mavim.

Note: Use a unique database code for each database. Reusing a database code can lead to problems.

5. Check the External Log Database option if you want to keep an external log of all database transactions. Click the button to enter a location and a file name for the log database.

 See Database Log.

6. Click OK and you will be returned to the Database Manager.
