How to assign characteristics to relationships in Mavim

Mavim users who want to add extra details or classifications to relationships between topics.

To explain how to assign characteristics to an existing relationship and create new characteristics when needed.

What are characteristics?

• Characteristics are optional attributes you can assign to relationships.
• They help classify or add context to relationships for better clarity and reporting.
• You decide which characteristics to create and use.

Steps to assign a characteristic

1. Open the Relationships screen for the topic.
2. Select the relationship you want to update.
3. Click the dropdown under Characteristic.
4. Choose the applicable characteristic from the list.

Create a new characteristic

• If the characteristic you need is not available:
  1. Click New Characteristic in the dropdown.
  2. Enter the name and details for the new characteristic.
  3. Save it and select it for the relationship.

Important notes

• Assigning a characteristic is not mandatory.
• Characteristics can be customized based on your modeling needs.
• You can add characteristics at any time after creating the relationship.
