How to change the order of relationships in Mavim

Target audience

Mavim users who want to organize relationships for a topic in a specific order for better clarity and navigation.

Core purpose/goal

To explain how to reorder relationships in the Relationships screen using the Relationship Order Number column and sorting options.

Steps to change the order of relationships

1. Make the Relationship Order Number column visible

  • Open the Relationships screen for the topic.
  • Right-click any column header and select Options Relationship Categories.
  • Go to the Table Options tab.
  • Enable the Relationship Order Number column.
  • In Sort order, make sure the first sort criterion is Relationship Order Number.

2. Adjust the order

  • When the sort order starts with Relationship Order Number, select the relationship you want to move.
  • Use the Moving and Sorting buttons in the Navigation tab to change the order.

Important notes

  • Hyperlink relationships cannot be sorted because they are not shown in websites or XML exports. They will appear at the top or bottom of the list depending on the sorting status.
  • If you actively use relationship ordering, disable the Topic Order Number column in the Relationships screen to avoid confusion.
  • Sorting only works when the Relationship Order Number column is the primary sort criterion.
