How to change the topic type of a shape in a flowchart
Target audience: Mavim users who have created a flowchart and need to update the topic type of a shape.
Purpose: This article explains how to change the topic type of a shape in a Visio flowchart and save the changes to the Mavim database.
Steps to change the topic type

Right-click the shape
- In your flowchart, locate the shape whose topic type you want to change.
- Right-click on the shape to open the context menu.

Select the new topic type
- From the menu, choose the required topic type.
- When you change the topic type, the shape turns pink. This indicates that the change has not yet been saved to the database.

Save the change
- Click the Save icon (✔) in the toolbar to process the change and update the database.
Important notes
- The pink color is a temporary indicator. Once saved, the shape returns to its normal color.
- You must save changes manually; otherwise, they will not be applied to the database.
