How to create a new field in Mavim

Target audience:

Users who need to create and manage fields in the Mavim Development environment.

Purpose:

Guide users through creating a new field and avoiding duplicates using the Field Administration screen.

Prerequisites:

  • Access to the Field Administration screen in Mavim.
  • Knowledge of the field type you want to create.

Steps to create a new field:

1. Open the Field Administration screen

  • Navigate to the Field Administration section in Mavim.

2. Start creating a new field

  • In the middle section of the screen, click the New button next to Available Fields.

3. Check for existing fields

  • A new screen appears showing all existing fields of the selected type.
  • Use this list to verify if a similar field already exists.
    • Each field includes checkboxes to display its properties.

4. Filter and search

  • Change the Type to view other field categories.
  • Start typing the desired field name in the Name field.
    • The list will automatically filter to help you find matching fields.

5. Create the field

  • If no existing field meets your requirements:
    • Complete the Name field.
    • Click Create.
      The new field will now appear in the left panel.

6. Set field properties

  • After creating the field, configure its properties as needed.

Important notes:

  • Always check for existing fields before creating a new one to avoid duplicates.
  • Field properties must be set after creation for proper functionality.
