How to create, edit, and delete attributes in the simulation module

Target audience

Users who want to simulate processes in Mavim and assign measurable values like cost or time to process steps.

Purpose

This article explains how to create, edit, and delete attributes in the simulation module. Attributes allow you to assign measurable values (e.g., cost, time) to process steps for accurate simulation.

Overview

An attribute is a value with a specific unit that you assign to process steps. Which attributes you create depends on what you want to simulate:
  • To predict costs, create an attribute called Costs with the unit Euro (or your currency).
  • To measure time, create an attribute called Time with the unit Hours or Days.
Once created, attributes appear on the Flow steps tab, where you can enter values for individual steps. You can also set stop conditions for attributes during simulation.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Simulation module in Mavim.
  • A flowchart or cross-functional flowchart ready for simulation.

Steps to create an attribute

  1. In the Simulation module, click Attributes.
  2. The Attributes window opens.
  3. Click Add.
  4. A new line appears in the list:
    • Use the On/Off column to enable or disable the attribute for simulation.
    • Click the Name column to enter the attribute name.
    • Click the Unit column to enter the unit (e.g., Euro, Hours).
  5. Click Apply or OK to save.
    • Click Cancel to discard changes (only works before Apply).

Steps to edit an attribute

  1. In the Simulation module, click Attributes.
  2. The Attributes window opens.
  3. To edit:
    • Change the name: click the Name column and type a new name.
    • Change the unit: click the Unit column and type a new unit.
  4. Click Apply or OK to save changes.
    • If you clicked Apply, Cancel will not undo changes.

Steps to delete an attribute

Warning: Deleting an attribute removes all values entered for that attribute.
  1. In the Simulation module, click Attributes.
  2. The Attributes window opens.
  3. Select the attribute you want to delete.
  4. Click Delete.
  5. Click Apply or OK to confirm.
    • If you clicked Apply, Cancel will not undo deletion. You must recreate the attribute.

Important notes

  • Deleted attributes cannot be restored after Apply.
  • Stop conditions can be set for each attribute during simulation.
