How to edit a hyperlink in the Description screen

Target audience:
Users who want to update the name or target of an existing hyperlink in the Description screen.

Core purpose:
To guide users through editing a hyperlink’s display text or changing the topic it links to.

Steps to edit a hyperlink

1. Click on the hyperlink you want to edit in the Description screen.
2. Right-click and select Edit Hyperlink.
3. A window opens showing the currently linked topic.

You can now choose to:

• Change the hyperlink name

  • Press F2 and enter a new name.
  • Note: This change applies to all hyperlinks pointing to the same topic, unless their text is set to be editable.

• Change the hyperlink reference

  • Select a different topic from the tree.
  • Click Select to confirm.

Make hyperlink text editable

If you want to change the hyperlink text without affecting other links:

• Enable the Text Hyperlink Editable option.
• You can then edit the hyperlink text like regular text.
• The link will still point to the original topic.

Important notes

• Editing the hyperlink name affects all identical links unless they are set as editable.
• Changing the reference updates the destination topic but keeps the same display text unless you modify it.
• Editable hyperlink text allows for more flexibility in how links appear without breaking the connection.
