How to Grant External Users Access to the Mavim Portal
External users can access the Mavim Portal depending on whether your Portal is federated or non-federated. This article explains both scenarios and how to properly invite users outside your organization.
Use Case
Use this guide when:
- You want to collaborate with users outside your organization.
- You need to grant Portal access to external consultants, partners, or clients.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Federated Portal (SSO Enabled)
If your Portal is federated (linked to your organization’s domain via Single Sign-On):
- Ask your IT department to:
- Create a guest account in your domain for the external user, or
- Provide the external user with a new account in your domain.
- Once added, the user can log in to the Portal using their credentials.
Non-Federated Portal (No SSO)
If your Portal is not federated:
- Go to https://portal.azure.com and log in with your Azure AD admin account:
AzureAD@Mavimxxx.onmicrosoft.com
(replacexxx
with your company name). - Click on Microsoft Entra ID.
- Navigate to Users → New user.
- Choose Invite external user.
- Fill in the user’s details and click Review & Invite.
The user will receive an email invitation. Once accepted, they can log in to the Portal using their own email address.

Important Notes
- Federated Portals require domain-level access.
- Non-federated Portals allow manual guest invitations via Azure AD.
