How to make charts in the Portal readable on different screen resolutions

Mavim Portal is designed for Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, where most content displays clearly. However, users may access the Portal on devices with lower resolutions or use browser settings that affect readability. This article explains how to make your Mavim Portal content easy to read for as many users as possible.

1. Make sure Visio charts are the right shape

This is the most effective way to make your content readable on any screen.

Visio charts in Mavim can be displayed in half-screen or full-screen views. Some diagrams look fine in both, while others may appear squeezed or cut off in half-screen mode.

Tip: Design your diagrams with an aspect ratio of about 4:3—slightly wider than tall.

This shape adapts best across display sizes.

Example:

  • the actual content consists of two charts. A home page on the left and a gray/blue chart on the right. If you look closely you can see that the information uses only a limited part of the screen:

Since you can’t control how each user views content, always test your Visio charts in both views.

2. Set up the Mavim Portal layout for maximum content space

You can improve readability by freeing up space in the Portal’s top section.

To adjust layout settings:

  1. Go to DashboardLock iconMavim Portal AdministrationGeneral.

  2. adjust the next settings:

  3. Click Update and refresh the Portal.

The result: more room for your content and fewer visual distractions.

Use focus view

Focus view hides the navigation tabs, displaying only the main content area.

  • Toggle focus view manually using the Focus view button.

  • Or open a homepage directly in focus view by adding this to the URL:

    &focus=true

    Example:

    https://<portalURL>/Portal/Topic?webdcv=w28d10c173v1002&view=Description&source=d10c173v1002&page=0&maximize=true&latest=true&focus=true

In the General tab, you can also hide unused buttons. This doesn’t change readability directly but helps users focus on relevant content.

3. Guide users on optimal display and browser settings

If users still find the Portal hard to read, their device or browser settings may be the cause.
