How to run a spell check in the Description screen

Target audience:
Users editing content in the Description screen who want to check spelling in one or multiple descriptions.

To guide users through running a spell check in the active Description screen or across multiple Description screens.

Spell check in the active Description screen

Use this method to check spelling in a single Description screen.

To start:

  1. Place your cursor in the Description screen.
  2. Go to the Tools tab and select Spelling.
Or press F7 to open it directly.

When the spell check starts:

  • Words not found in the user dictionary will trigger suggestions.
  • You can choose from the following options:
    • Ignore Once: Skip the word this time.
    • Ignore All: Skip all instances of the word.
    • Add to Dictionary: Save the word to your personal dictionary.
    • Change: Replace the current word with a suggested one.
    • Change All: Replace all instances of the word.
    • Cancel: Stop the spell check.

Spell check across multiple Description screens

Use this method to check spelling in a topic and its subtopics.

To start:

  1. In the Topics screen, select the topic whose subtopics you want to check.
  2. Go to the Tools tab and select Spelling in Subtopics.
Or press Ctrl + Shift + F7 to open it directly.

What happens next:

  • The spell check will move through each Description screen one by one.
  • The same options (Ignore, Change, Add to Dictionary, etc.) are available as in the single-screen spell check.

Important notes

  • The spell check uses your user dictionary, so adding words will prevent future alerts for those terms.
  • You can cancel the spell check at any time.
  • Spelling in Subtopics is ideal for reviewing large sets of content efficiently.
