How to set column width in a table
Target audience:
Users working in the Description screen who want to adjust the layout of tables for better readability and structure.
Core purpose:
To guide users through setting the width of one or more table columns using both menu options and manual resizing.
Steps to set column width
Using Table Properties
- Click inside a column or select multiple columns you want to adjust.
- Right-click and choose Table Properties from the context menu.
- In the Table Properties window, go to the Column tab.
- Check the box for Preferred Width.
- Enter the desired width:
- Use inches for fixed sizing.
- Use percentage to size relative to the Description screen width.
Using the mouse
- Hover over the vertical border of the column.
- When the cursor changes to a resize symbol, click and drag to adjust the width manually.
Important notes
- Manual resizing is quick but may be less precise than using the Column tab.
- Percentage-based widths are useful for responsive layouts.
- You can apply width settings to one or multiple columns at once.
