How to view and edit topic properties

Target audience:
All Mavim Manager users who need to view, edit, or bulk update topic properties.

Core purpose:
To guide users through accessing and modifying topic properties, including how to manage multiple topics and understand database-level differences.

Accessing topic properties

You can open the properties of any topic using one of the following methods:

Select a topic in the Topics or Subtopics screen.
Press F4 on your keyboard, or
Go to the Edit tab and click Properties.

This opens the Properties window, where you can view and change topic details (if permitted).

Using the Change Topic Type window

To change the Type or Icon for multiple topics at once:

Select one or more topics.
Right-click or go to the Edit tab.
Click Change Topic Type in the Properties group.
Alternatively, press F6 to open the window directly.

Selecting topics:

List selection: Click the first topic, hold Shift, then click the last topic.
Individual selection: Hold Ctrl and click each topic you want to include.

Changing type or icon:

Choose the Type or Icon tab.
Select the desired value from the dropdown.
Click Apply to confirm changes.
Click Undo if needed.
Click Close when finished.

Note: Some topic types do not allow icon changes.

Understanding topic property tabs

The Properties window is divided into multiple tabs. Common tabs include:

General: Topic name, type, icon, and description.
Permissions: Restrict access to specific users or groups.
Audit Log: View a history of changes made to the topic.

Audit log tab overview

The Audit Log tab displays a table of actions taken on the topic. Columns include:

Column	Description
User	Who performed the action
Timestamp	When the change occurred
Change Type	Type of change made
Field Info	Field set and field affected
From Value	Original value before the change
To Value	New value after the change
Log ID	Unique identifier for the audit entry

Database topic properties

The Mavim Database topic (root of the topic tree) has a unique Properties screen.

Go to the Connections tab to view which users are currently logged into the database.
Other tabs may differ from standard topic properties.

Important notes

Some properties may be read-only depending on your user permissions.
Changes to parent topics may affect child topics, especially in mirrored coupled copies.
Always save changes before closing the Properties window.
