If you have created a cross functional flowchart in which empty lanes are shown, it is very simple to hide them.
This is done as follows:
1. Open the Cross Functional Flowchart in Visio
2. Open the context menu on an empty section of the chart.
3. Select the Show Empty Lanes option:
The chart will now be shown all lanes including empty lanes. This menu item is a toggle. If you select it again, the empty lanes will be hidden.
