Overview - Generic Chart - Background pages
When working with a Generic chart you have the option to create a page that is to be used as a background for your chart. Any images or shapes that you add to this background page will be included in publications to the Mavim Portal.
Note that it is not possible to connect a shape that is on a background page to a Mavim Topic and make it clickable in the Mavim Portal.
Below are the steps necessary for creating and configuring a page to be a background for your Generic chart.
1. Open the Generic chart in Visio.
2. At the bottom of the screen, click the Plus button to add another page to the chart:
3. Give the page a relevant name by right clicking the page name and selecting Rename:
4. Now on the new page, add any shapes or images you wish to use as a background.
5. Save your chart.
6. Now with the Background page selected, press the Shift + F5 key combination to open the page setup for the currently selected page. Select the Page Properties tab and enable the Background radio button:
The page has now been configured as a Background. Click OK to close the Page Setup screen.
7. Now switch to your main Generic Chart page.
8. Once again, press the Shift + F5 key combination to open the Page Setup screen. Switch to the Page Properties tab and make sure Foreground has been selected. Then for the Background drop down menu, select the page you just configured as a background:
9. Click OK to close the Page Setup screen.
10. Save your chart and close Visio.
Now when you publish the associated topic to the Mavim Portal, the background will be included.
