Overview - Layout Subtopics Hierarchical Charts

If a topic is selected and you right-click, you will see the Layout Subtopics option. If you click this, the following screen will appear:

Horizontal

The subtopics are aligned horizontally.

Vertical

The subtopics are aligned vertically. You can choose to have them aligned either:

· Right of the topic

o Below - This will produce a tree like structure of your topics.

o Center -  This will produce a structure that will allow you to read your chart from left to right.

· Alternate - This will place the topics to the left and right of the parent topic.

Apply to all subtopics

If you choose this option, the same alignment settings apply to the hierarchical charts of all of the subtopics. Otherwise only the first level of topics will be affected by your selection.

See the examples below:

Horizontal

Vertical, Right Below

Vertical, Right Center

Vertical, Alternate

In all of the above examples, the Apply to all subtopics option was enabled.

NOTE: These layout options do not affect Staff Department shapes.

If Automatic Layout is chosen in Options, the layout is automatically applied after changing these settings. Otherwise, these settings are only applied when Automatic Layout has been chosen and you select Layout from the right-click menu (if no shape or relationship has been selected).
