Target audience:
Users who insert tables into the Description screen and want to adjust their visibility and appearance.

Core purpose:
To guide users through making tables visible by adding borders and applying shading for better readability and layout control.

Steps to format table borders

  1. Click inside the table you want to format.
  2. Right-click and select Table Properties.
  3. In the dialog window, go to the Border and Shading tab.
  4. Choose your preferred border style:
    • Solid, dashed, dotted, etc.
    • Apply to all cells or specific sides.
  5. Confirm your changes by clicking OK.

Note: If a table has no borders, it may not be visible in the Description screen. Turning on gridlines or adding borders resolves this.

Steps to apply shading to table cells

  2. Use the color drop-down menu to select a shading color.
  3. Apply the shading to:
    • Individual cells
    • Entire rows or columns
    • The whole table
  4. Click OK to apply.

Important notes

  • Borders and shading help make tables easier to read and visually distinct.
  • Gridlines may be turned off by default. If your table appears invisible, check border settings or enable gridlines.
  • These formatting options apply to both newly inserted and existing tables.
