Answer : Mavim cannot perform direct import of BPMN chart; but an alternative method is possible:

First import the BPMN diagram as a Flow chart
When the import is complete; assign the relationships to each topic; created after the import (Relationships represent the lane names in the BPMN chart. Make sure the relationships (based on the lane names) are created under the who- category.
Once relationships have been assigned to the topics; create a BPMN chart on the element where you created the Flow chart using the Overview - BPMN 2.0 - Collaboration option.
Now select the entire BPMN pool; right click; select the option "Convert to BPMN types" and save it; so that the shapes are changed to BPMN types.
After that; when you want to change the shape type; just right-click on the specific shape and change it to the shape you want.
The BPMN chart has now been created and you can delete the flow chart from the topic.
