Chart on a linked copy
Chart on a linked copy Question When I update a linked copy the -- KA-01518
Question
When I update a linked copy the chart on the linked copy is not updated.
Answer:
It is true that a chart on the linked copy is not updated when a new version of the linked copy is updated.
This is because a chart is unique to a process. When you add an extra process in the linked copy then this process should also be reflected in the chart.
(Just like a chart a report is also unique for a process; so the same applies)
Therefore; a chart is never 'linked'; only a copy comes along from the original without any linking.
When a linked copy is updated; it is recommended to discard the chart (or report) from the copy
and rebuild it or even to create the charts only on the linked copy and not on the original process.
You should also note that in places where you add additional processes to a linked copy;
the chart should also be re-generated for a while.
Example: I have a main process with 3 underlying process steps:
A version of this is made and this version is imported into another database after which a linked copy is made:
Now when I add a ProcessD to the linked copy and I open the chart this process is automatically included in the chart. In this way the chart always remains consistent.
