How to: importing topic structure from a word document Problem You have a lot of information stored -- KA-01060
Problem
You have a lot of information stored in one or multiple Word documents which you would like to reuse in Mavim but in a more structured manner.
Solution
Mavim offers the ability to import information from a Word document; including building a Topic structure based on this document. It is important to note that in order for this to work; the Word document must have the correct formatting. The entire Topic structure is based on the Heading styles in the Word document you want to import as shown in the below screenshot:
Any text or images that are under each heading will be used to fill in the description screen of the appropriate topics. Once you have set your Word document up correctly ready for import; follow these steps to import the Word document:
- In Mavim; select the Topic under which you want to import the Word document and the new structure.
- Switch to the Modelling tab on the ribbon.
- Select the Import drop-down followed by Word Document.
- Now select the Word document you want to import.
Note: The Word document can not be in use by any other application. Ensure that it is not open in Word. - Click Open.
- You now have the choice to select the destination. Note that the Topic you selected in step 1 will be selected automatically but you can change the destination at this point.
- Click Select. The import will now begin.
- Once the import is complete you will get a pop-up to show this. Click OK.
