Question: What exactly does the Visio solution do and what can it do differently than a Visio stencil?
Answer:
The Visio solution is intended as a template for Generic charts. So when you create a Visio solution and you start a new Generic chart; you can place a check mark in front of 'Use Visio solution' and select the relevant Visio solution so that the chart is started with that standard.
For the other techniques you can create a Visio Stencil.
Select the tab Administration - Create Visio solution.
The screen below will open.
Enter the name of the Visio solution you would like to create.
You can now choose your own solution from Visio stencils.
The Visio solution is stored in the tree under Objects - Visio Solutions (If Objects is not visible in the tree; select it under the menu option ‘Layout’).
When you then create a New Generic chart; you have the option to use the Visio Solution:
Here; select 'Apply Visio solution' (you can only use Visio Solutions if they have already been created and saved); when you open the drop-down menu you will see the available Visio Solutions.
If you do not check the 'Use Visio solution' option; Visio will open the existing default templates.
