Error - server error in application when clicking on a portal link from office Question: When I click on a link to -- KA-01399

Question:

When I click on a link to the Mavim Portal from an Office application; this link is not opened.

Answer:

To solve this problem; a registry key can be set on the PC from which the link is executed; see the following description:

When you click a hyperlink in a document (PowerPoint / Excel / Word) to a Mavim Portal; you may experience an error. An error message “Server Error” can appear in '/' Application.

This problem occurs because Office wants to connect directly to the specified URL.
That request is redirected to the login page of the Portal. If authentication cannot be performed; the error message appears.
(See also: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot/office/click-hyperlink-to-sso-website).

To solve this problem; the following Windows Registry key can be set on the PC where the link is executed:

  1. Quit all programs that are running.
  2. Select Start; and then select Run. Type regedit in the Open box; and then select OK.
  3. In the Registry Editor; browse to one of the following subkeys (create the keys when they do not exist):

For 32 Bit Office Versions installed on 32-bit Operating Systems
or 64 Bit Office Versions installed on 64-bit Operating Systems:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\Internet]

For 32 Bit Office Versions installed on 64-bit Operating Systems:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\Internet]

  1. Make sure the Internet subkey is selected. On the Edit menu; point to New; and then select DWORD Value. Add the following registry value:

Value Name: ForceShellExecute

  1. Double-click ForceShellExecute; and then set the Value data to 1. Select OK.

ForceShellExecute"=dword:00000001

  1. On the Registry menu; select Exit.
