Portal - instruction for new users Question: When a user enters the Portal URL -- KA-01405
Question:
When a user enters the Portal URL for the first time and is automatically registered; he or she does not yet know how it works. How can I ensure that this user immediately receives the correct information?
Answer: Open de Portal as Administrator and click on the dashboard button:
Click on de lock button:
Go go tot he tab ‘Groups’ and click new
Enter a desired group name under 'Name' and a corresponding description under 'Description'; then click Update
Refresh the Portal
Go to the tab General; set ‘Use groups’; select behind ‘Default role’ the desired role (Subscriber or Contributor) and behind ‘Default groups’ the newly created group ‘New users’
In Mavim Manager you create a version with an explanation of the Portal.
You publish this version to the Portal and place it Online; after which you give the 'New users' group rights to view this website.
To do this; go to the Versions tab; select this website and click Edit.
Add the group 'new users' and click Update:
Users who log in to the Portal for the first time will now automatically end up in the 'new users' group. The Portal administrator can maintain this 'new users' group and possibly transfer the users to another group.
(Versions to which no group has been assigned are not visible to anyone in the Portal; after a change of rights; refresh the website to see if the change has been implemented; see for more information also knowledge base item: https://my.mavim.com/en-US/knowledge-base/article/KA-01603 ).
