Portal - new federation

Portal - new federation Question : Due to a change in our -- KA-01643

Question: Due to a change in our Active Directory; the Portal has to be federated again; where should I take notice off?

Answer:

You can re-federate your Portal via the MCC (https://connectcenter.mavimcloud.com) in the Mavim Portal – Connect tab

This will override the current federation.

Note!  all historical data of the users is then gone because they become new users for the Mavim Portal (the UPN / ObjectID changes due to this action).
Websites are published on the Portal and tasks can be set for users; a subscription can be taken out or a favourite can be set; etc.
When the federation is converted; the websites remain visible; only the users who have e.g. tasks log in after the new federation with a different ObjectID and can therefore no longer perform those tasks (for the Portal they have become other users).

If it is not a problem to keep the historical data; then you can run the new federation without any problems; but if it is important to keep the historical data; our administrators can make an IDP switch on the portal so that users are linked to their own account when they log in again; and in this way the historical data is preserved. There are costs associated with this in the form of technical consultancy; you could contact your Mavim account manager for the costs and planning.
