Fields - Field Set - Combine Assigning Methods
There are two methods for assigning field sets:
Field Set - Assign Directly to Topic
Field Set - Assign to Topic Type
It is possible to use both these methods. For instance, you can apply a field set to all topics, and then apply additional field sets to a certain topic type. Below is an example to further explain the use of field sets.
Example of combining different methods of assigning field sets
If you want to assign a standard set of fields to all topics of the type Standard Topic, and want a specific additional set of fields to the subtopics of the topic titled "Documents", you must perform these steps:
1. Create two field sets, e.g. "Standard" for the fields that will be assigned to all topics of the standard topic type, and "Documents" that will be assigned to the subtopics of the topic "Documents"
(see Configuring Fields for a Field Set).
2. Assign the field set Standard to all standard topics (see Field Set - Assign to Topic Type) and the field set "Documents" to the topic "Documents" with the inheritance option 'Subtopics'
(see Inheritance Options).
