How Can I Open the Underlying chart Directly by Clicking a Shape in the Portal?

Enable users to click a shape in the portal and immediately open the related underlying chart in the right-hand pane.

Configuration in Mavim Manager

This behavior can be configured in Mavim Manager as follows:

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Suppose you have two processes: Process A and Process B, each with its own process chart.

  2. If you want the shape “Activity” in Process A to directly open the chart of Process B, you need to:

    • Create a "To Where" relationship from the shape “Activity” in Process A to Process B.

  3. When creating a new chart for Process A, make sure to enable the checkbox: Show External Topics (where to Relationships)

If the chart was created earlier without this option:

    • Open the chart.
    • Right-click anywhere in the Visio drawing area.
    • Select Options.
    • Enable Show External Topics (where to Relationships) from the dialog that appears.

Result in Mavim

In Mavim, the chart will display the shape linked to Process B.

Behavior in the Portal

When this chart is published to the portal and opened:

  • Clicking the shape “Process B” will immediately open the chart of Process B in the right-hand pane.

Note: This only works if on the General tab in the portal the option Default navigation is set to Chart.
