How to assign field sets to topics
Target audience
Administrators and advanced users managing topics and field sets in Mavim.
Purpose
This article explains how to assign one or more field sets to a topic and configure inheritance options.
Steps to assign field sets to topics
1. Open the Topics screen
- Navigate to the Topics screen.
- Click the topic you want to assign a field set to.
2. Open the Assign Field Sets option
- Go to the Administration tab.
- In the Administrative Tools group, select Assign Field Sets.
3. Assign field sets
- In the screen that appears, click Assign.
- In the Assign Field Sets screen, select one or more field sets.
- Click Select.
4. Review assigned field sets
- The top section shows the field sets already assigned to the topic.
- The bottom section displays the fields belonging to the selected field set.
5. Configure inheritance
- In the top section, open the Inherit dropdown menu.
- Select the required inheritance type to define which (sub)topics will inherit the field set.

6. Close the screen
- Click Close to finish.

- Topics can also be assigned a field set based on topic type.

Important notes
- Requires administrator privileges.
- Inheritance options determine whether subtopics automatically receive the assigned field set.
