How to copy data from one data language to another
Target audience
Users working with multilingual databases who need to duplicate content from a source language into one or more target languages.
Purpose
This article explains how to copy data from one data language to another within the application. This feature helps maintain consistency across languages without manually re-entering all information.
Prerequisites
- Multiple data languages must be active in the database.
- This function is only available for topics under the yellow cabinet. If a topic under a green cabinet is selected, the Copy to other language option will not be available.
Steps to copy data to another language
- In the tree, select the topic you want to copy.
- Go to the Tools tab and select Data > Copy to other language.
- The Copy to other language screen appears:
- Topic: Displays the selected topic. You can choose another topic using the Browse button.
- Include subtopics: allows you to do the same for all child topics of the currently selected topic.
- Source language: Shows the language from which data will be copied.
- Copy to language: Select one or more target languages to copy the data to.
- Click OK to complete the copy action.
- The OK button becomes available once you select at least one destination language.
- Click Cancel to exit without making changes.
Important notes
- You are given a warning before the copy is completed as target data will be overwritten.
- Use this feature carefully to avoid duplicating incorrect or outdated content.
