How to export and import custom icons in Mavim
Target audience
Administrators and users who want to edit or replace custom icons in Mavim.
Purpose
This article explains how to export an icon for editing and how to import an updated or new image to replace an existing icon.
Prerequisites
- Access to the Objects folder in the Topics screen.
- Image-editing software for modifying exported icons.
- Supported image format: PNG (recommended for import).
Where to find your icons
Icons you have created are stored under Objects > Icons folder in the Topics screen.

Export an icon
Follow these steps to export an icon for editing:
- Open the Topics screen and activate the Objects folder.
- In the Icons folder, select the icon you want to export.
- Right-click the icon and choose Export Icon.
- In the dialog box, select a location to save the image. The icon will be saved in PNG format.
- Edit the image using your preferred image-editing application.
- After editing, you can import the updated image back into Mavim.
Import an icon
Use these steps to replace an icon with an edited or new image:
- Open the Topics screen and activate the Objects folder.
- In the Icons folder, select the icon you want to update.
- Right-click and choose Import Icon.
- In the dialog box, browse to the file location and select the edited image or a new image.
- All topics that use this icon will automatically update to display the new image.
Important notes
- Imported icons are automatically resized to 16 x 16 pixels, 32-bit PNG format.
- For best results, prepare your image in the correct size and format before importing.
- Replacing an icon updates all topics where the icon is applied.
