How to share custom icons between databases
Target audience
Administrators who have created custom icons in Mavim and want to make them available in other databases.
Purpose
This article explains how to export and import custom icons so they can be used across multiple Mavim databases.
Prerequisites
- Administrator privileges.
- Custom icons already created in the original database (see Create Icon).
- Access to versioning features: Create Version, Export Version, and Import Version.
Steps to share custom icons
-
Create a version of the Icons folder
- Go to the Topics screen.
- Under Objects, locate the Icons folder.
- Create a version of this folder (see Create Version).
-
Export the version
- Use the Export Version function to save the version to a file.
-
Import the version into another database
- In the target database, use Import Version to bring in the exported version.
-
Apply icons in the new database
- After import, the icons will be available for use in the target database (see Topic Properties).
Maintaining icons
- Icons must be maintained in the original database where they were created.
- If icons are updated in the original database, export the updated version and import it into the other database.
- After import, all topics using these icons will automatically update.
Important notes
- Only icons created in the original database can be updated and shared.
- Imported icons cannot be edited in the target database; updates must come from the source database.
