How to use the Fields screen
Target audience
Users who manage fields and field sets in Mavim and need to customize views or select field sets for version definitions.
Core purpose
This article explains how to access the Fields screen, the different view options available, and how to select field sets during version definition creation.
Steps and details
1. Accessing the Fields screen
- Fields are displayed separately in the Fields screen.
- If the Fields screen does not appear:
- Go to the Layout tab.
- In the Application group, activate the Fields screen.
- Tip: For more details on interface customization, see User Interface.
2. Understanding the view options
In the Fields tab, you will see three buttons. Each button represents a different view:
-
Categorised view
- Displays fields grouped by field set.
- Useful for understanding which fields belong to which set.
-
Alphabetical view
- Shows fields in a list format.
- The field set name appears in brackets next to each field.
-
Tab view
- Displays fields with field sets grouped into tabs.
- Ideal for quick navigation between sets.
3. Selecting field sets for version definitions
- During version definition creation, you can choose which field sets to include.
- This allows you to exclude certain field information from publications.
- Tip: Carefully review which field sets are necessary for your version to avoid publishing unnecessary data.
Important notes
- Activating the Fields screen requires access to the Layout tab.
- Changes in view options do not affect the actual data, only how it is displayed.
- Excluding field sets during version definition impacts what is published, not the original data.
