Why Do Hyperlinks in the Portal Show a Different Color Than Configured?

Sometimes, hyperlinks in the portal appear in a different color than what has been configured in the portal settings. This can be confusing for administrators who expect the configured color to be applied consistently.

Portal Settings

As an Administrator, you can configure hyperlink colors under the General tab in the portal:

  • Hover: This is the color that appears when you hover your mouse over menu buttons.
  • Hyperlink: This is the default color that all hyperlinks should display.

Cause of Unexpected Hyperlink Colors

If hyperlinks in the description window still show a different color despite the correct settings, the issue is likely related to the Theme file that is used for publication. If the publication is created with the setting: Use format from Manager

then hyperlinks will appear as default HTML links (blue and underlined), and this formatting cannot be changed via the portal.

Solution

To ensure that hyperlink colors follow the portal settings, use one of the following publication options instead:

  • Use text without format from Manager
  • Use bold, italic, and underlined from Manager

These options allow the portal’s hyperlink color settings to be applied correctly.
