How to use an image as a start page and create links on it
You can set up a start page in Mavim by using an image as the background and placing clickable shapes on top of it. These shapes can then be linked to topics in Mavim.
Steps to create a start page with an image
-
Create a new element
-
Add a new element (for example, call it Start page).
-
Open a generic diagram via Modeling > Overviews > Generic diagram.
-
-
Open the diagram
-
A settings window appears. Leave all options as they are and click OK.
-
Double-click Blank drawing.
-
-
Insert the image
-
Save the diagram first.
-
Go to Insert > Pictures > Pictures.
-
Select the desired image.
⚠️ Tip: If the image file is large, it may slow down loading the start page in the Portal. Use the Compress Picture button in Visio or compress the image with external software before inserting it.
-
-
Place shapes on the image
-
Save the diagram again.
-
Open shapes via More shapes > General > Basic shapes.
-
Drag a shape onto the desired location in the image.
-
Save the diagram.
-
-
Link shapes to Mavim topics
-
Right-click the shape.
-
Select Connect to a topic in Mavim Manager.
-
The text of the linked topic will appear inside the shape.
-
-
Hide the shape text
-
Right-click the shape and choose Format shape.
-
Set Transparency to 99% so the shape remains clickable.
-
Under Line, select No line.
-
On the Home tab, click the arrow next to Font. In the window that appears, set Transparency to 100%.
-
Click OK.
-
Now the shape is invisible but still clickable, linking the image area to the chosen topic.
